Students in grade levels 3rd-8th participate in a challenging and investigative problem based learning (PBL) program. These students learn to discover new concepts and develop ideas through the means of problem solving. Thus setting up student members of SOS TAG to become life long learners invested in their current and future education.
Project Description
Create a “Board Game”: Do some research on the first board game ever created and a few other famous board games throughout history and write a 1 page research paper containing your findings. Next develop a chosen topic (Art, Music, Sports, Science, Farming etc.) this topic will be the theme of your game. Now begin to design your game…what is the overall goal of the game, how do you win, what are the rules and how many people can play? You must include instructions, game pieces, and a game board. Your design and colors should enhance your theme. Now write a survey with at least 6 questions such as (On a scale from 1-10 how much did you enjoy my game?) Once your game, rules and game pieces are created find at least 5 people outside of school to play your game, and after they are finished have these individuals take the survey you created. Next bring your game to school and have your TAG classmates and other friends try out your game. Have at least 5 students play and take a survey about your game. Chart your survey data. Finally create an electronic presentation, or a tri fold board to display your data, historical research, and other findings. Make sure to take a lot of photos as you create your game and as others play it because these photos will be used in your final presentation. Present all your work and research at the Spring TAG EXPO.
