Each year the Iowa Talented and Gifted Association presents the ITAG Conference. This is a wonderful networking opportunity for both GT Instructors and the parents of gifted and talented students. South O'Brien School sends their TAG Coordinator Mrs. Jillian Mews to Des Moines each fall to participate in the networking and continuous learning opportunities which are offered through the ITAG Conference. Mrs. Mews attends lectures provided by ITAG's Keynote Speakers as well as participating in numerous breakout sessions which target specific concepts that she may take back and apply to her Talented and Gifted Program at SOS. For more information click the ITAG Hompage button below. You will then be taken to the ITAG website.
South O'Brien Community School District is now in its 4th consecutive year of Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW). AIW provides the opportunity for teachers of all subject areas to work together, refine lessons, and maximize instruction.
Below is a Power Point with additional information on Gifted and Talented Student Learning and how to maximize their success. This Power Point was presented and made available to all staff at SOS.
