Kindergarten students took an adventure in learning about Structures. Students problem solved and used critical thinking skills to design multiple small structures using materials such as clay, paper, wood, and cardboard. Then HALS students began to investigate specifically sheltering structures and who and how these structures are used. Next students discovered what a guinea pig was and what they needed for survival. Students also learned about the environment of a guinea and what they enjoy to do for recreation. Students then designed and painted guinea pig playhouses for Mrs. Mews' pet guinea pig. After the homes were built students then tested their theories by placing Pollock in the homes and rating his reactions/happiness on a chart.
